Health and Personal Care
The Nurse Manager is frequently the first point of contact with potential future residents of Golden Birches Terrace, as they manage the waiting list. This provides an early opportunity to become familiar with each resident, assess individual needs and contribute to the care team's efforts to assist residents in their Activities of Daily Living. The Nurse Manager co-ordinates the regular care team meetings to review each resident's care requirements and formulate their treatment plan. The Nurse Manager is available to meet with residents on request, provide support and help in accessing the appropriate resources.
Nursing and Personal Support Worker care is available to every resident 24-hours a day to assist with Activities of Daily Living (i.e. bathing, grooming). Registered staff provides assessments, medication administration and prescribed treatments.
A resident’s personal physician provides ongoing medical care. Further, the Health Centre has a physician on call on a 24-hour basis. If necessary, hospitalization arrangements will be made in either the Acute Care Unit of our Health Centre or at another facility if required.
Essential care givers
An Essential Care Giver is not a casual visitor, but rather someone who is chosen by the patient or their Substitute Decision Maker. The Essential Caregiver comes to the Home to assist with the daily changing care of the resident. The Essential Caregiver may be allowed access to the Home in periods of heightened restriction, when casual visitors may be prohibited.
